Dear colleague,
What’s the seed that you want to see growing this year?
YES, this year! There is so much time for you in 2026 yet.
On August 29th, we gather to find our seeds and commit to see them growing.
To pay attention to the weeds that are killing our seeds, and remove them even when those weeds look pretty nice.
That is the promise of the Mid-Year/ Life Review for Interpreters.
Check the details here.
Back to the weeds.
My daughter cleaned up one of our vegetable boxes this spring and planted tomatoes and basil. And soon enough things started to grow. One day, I touched one of the leaves and rubbed it and it released this “tomato” scent. I did the same with the other plants but no “tomato” smell. They looked fine but they were actually weeds.
When I say they looked fine, I mean they could pass as tomato plants but they were not.
And yet they were growing along the tomato plants and taking their space.
Likewise our lives and careers are populated with activities and habits that look really good like the weeds in the vegetable box but they are only taking space and time from other activities and habits that potentially can support you better as a professional and human being.
Are you getting my meaning here?
Who hasn’t kept a job that was paying little and involved a lot of aggravation only because it looked good on the resume?
Who hasn’t cultivated a habit that took a lot of effort only because everyone says it is a “good” habit?
Who hasn’t maintained a relationship that seems okay but it is actually sucking the life out of you?
Those are the weeds that look “good” but they are actually taking space from what you actually want to grow: a satisfactory and joyful career and life.
How you detect these “weeds”:
They keep you rushing and busy. They demand a lot of mental and/or physical effort. They demand that you give it all and keeping nothing for yourself.
Is this sinking in for you?
And while these “weeds” thrive, your actual seeds for special projects, self-care practices, a solo vacation, a retreat in Costa Rica…wither away.
Come to the Mid-Year/ Life Review for Interpreters on August 29th, save two hours to go deep on finding what the weeds you need to remove are and pick the seeds that you want to plant. And do all this without burning yourself out.
That is the promise of the Mid-Year/ Life Review for Interpreters.
